Neanderthal Shaman
Finished my first crab prep last week! To any other crab preparators, I was wondering what you use to cover up dings in the carapace? Is there some sort of paint or putty I could use?

RJB
Acrylics or putty or both. I call these 'doinks'. For the small ones I will use acrylic cut with water and a very small brush. For the really big 'Doinks' I fill with putty that I color with powders and then after final shaping, a tad bit of acrylic. Again, cut with water. I've got prep video's on You Tube showing exactly how I do this. My channel is RB Fossils RB 2

Ptychodus04
As you progress, you will have less of these. Make sure you have good magnification, and slow your prep. That will help you a lot. Remember the mantra of the preparator... you can do it fast, or you can do it right; you can't do both.
