Howdy all,

This is a fossil scallop valve I found in the Coon Creek Formation of Mcnairy County, Tennessee a few years ago.

I've heard of two scallop genus coming from that area, this being neithea and pecten.

Which one would this be?

In your opinion, which extant genus of scallop is most comparable to Neithea?

Also, thank you for the ID!

None.  It belongs in the Superfamily Pectinoidea, but according to WoRMS, it is an extinct Family (Neitheidae) and genus.  I have never collected it outside of the Cretaceous.
