Coco
Rock is a geological thing. For any request for effective identification, we need the place of origin, the age of the field when known, training, and measurements in cm or inches. Fin Lover
Sorry, I don't see any fossils either. Fin Lover
Rockwood
I can see why one might think this looks like a dinosaur skull. I agree that the shapes and textures seen here are not tooth and bone though.
ClearLake
I also believe it is a rock, but it is a very neat looking rock. That is some interesting weathering and fracturing to make it resemble a skull with teeth.
Ludwigia
It's a large rock that appears to be baring its teeth at us, but that's just an apparition. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Fossildude19
Tag says Washington. For what it's worth. Just a rock, however. No dino or bone material present at all. New Members william7676 Posted January 26 Author New Members Share Posted January 26 What a bummer ch of in haters ever heard of prtrifacation and its just a coincidence that this rock just eroded this way huh?? One in a bazillion chance of perfect erosion ok.
Kane
Not quite sure what you were trying to type here, and not sure about the "haters" remark as that would be poor perception of what it is we do here. Our experienced members have provided their assistance in trying to help identify the specimen you presented. We remain supportive and hopeful that all members find interesting fossils. Also unclear what is meant by "perfect erosion." From the images, it seems fairly typical in terms of a geologic object. 4 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Fossildude19
Amazing how when people are wrong in their assumptions, that they lash out at those who tried to help. Yes, we have heard of petrification, but it doesn't happen like in the movies, Medusa gaze style. You just do not have an example of it. I suggest you look up Pareidolia, and move on. No tooth enamel present. No bone textures or shapes. No actual skull/dinosaur anatomy/morphology. Topic has been locked to further comments, as OP has decided to lash out at us for telling him he is mistaken. OP can take his rock to a local museum or university to have a paleontologist tell him in person that it is a rock. Although, if this is the response he gets, I worry for that paleontologist. Good luck, William7676. 1 2 3 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
