I found this on a beach in the Outer Banks in North Carolina USA. It’s quite heavy. What might it be?IMG_1057.thumb.jpeg.5f1d98a0560780927f3fe870e3d60411.jpegIMG_1057.thumb.jpeg.5f1d98a0560780927f3fe870e3d60411.jpegIMG_1057.thumb.jpeg.5f1d98a0560780927f3fe870e3d60411.jpegIMG_1057.thumb.jpeg.5f1d98a0560780927f3fe870e3d60411.jpegIMG_1054.thumb.jpeg.8764ef1198eb6111b883388a9e02666b.jpeg

To my eye, a weathered cetacean bone. It may be modern.

I would say its a weathered, modern whale bone , because of the high bone density .

As indicated by others, it is whale bone and is most likely part of the skull. Please provide measurements in words,  not photos.  Maximum length and width.

Few in the world could identify which part of the skull,  but there is a chance with one of our members . @Boesse He has a day job and very consumed by responsibilities so it may be a while.  Welcome to TFF.

I think this is a broken piece of recent bone, cetacean maybe.

Thank you all! I’ll add measurements shortly. It’s cool even if it’s not a fossil.
