I'm new to your site  and looking to learn more about one of my fossils. I live on the Appomattox River in Chesterfield Va.

I live on the same land that occupied one of the largest civil war signal towers built in the country at Bermuda Hundred on Point of Rocks. Pocahontas' great great grandson is buried 200 feet from my yard in a beautiful grave. Ive loved rock and fossil collecting since I was a child and while only living here for 4 years Ive found some 20 arrowheads , 2 indian gaming balls and Civil War pieces.

The first 3 attachments are of the worm fossil in question. I've read that worm fossils can be rare and while I've thought it to be an eyesore for 30 years I wounder what others in the know think about it. The last picture is my yard taken beside the siginaling tower in 1863. The peninsula in the background in the center of the picture is where Abraham Lincoln visited General Grant in March of 1865 after the seige of Petersburg and was then assassinated, some 3 weeks later. I hope you don't mind me discussing the history around my home but to know a little about me is to know I love history

Welcome to the Forum. :)

Your fossil isn't worms, but Crinoid stem sections.

Welcome from Illinois. Nice find!

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Welcome from the northern tip of Virginia! Loved hearing about the history of your home and property. I do agree with the others that you have a nice hash plate with crinoid stems.
