Wendyjo44
I have tried to research what this is and cannot come up with anything. There are shiney black lines throughout it which to me it looks like coal but I know nothing about it. Can someone please give me an opinion or at least lead me in the right direction of somehow identifying this?
Wendyjo44
Oh and they were found in East Texas and are about the size of a baseball, some a bit smaller but not much. Pretty heavy and hard as well.
Fossildude19
East Texas is a large area. Can you narrow it down to County, at least? Could be coal or lignite. Rockwood
I doubt this is coal or plant fossil material. Iron or manganese seems more likely to me. 1
Brandy Cole
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironstone I agree with Rockwood. This appears to be ironstone with sections of dark mineral deposit.
