Hi! Welcome from another newbie!

 

One type of your fossils is super common in the UK along the Jurassic Coast and I have personally found about 30 while on a public expedition with guides from the Charmouth Heritage Centre.

One of the very few fossils that that I, as an absolutely amateur, would feel comfortable identifying with any degree of confidence; happy to see your post and be able to contribute!

 

For preparation, it's recommended online to use 600-1200 wet/dry sandpaper, get it wet, and just polish, polish away with elbow grease. I haven't finished mine yet (pretty boring and tiring at the same time as a process) and am still testing different final coats (tried metal polish which failed, have read perhaps beeswax or clear nail polish).
