Sauropod19
Hello, it’s been awhile! I’ve been opening up some Mazon Pit 11 stuff and came across this thing. I try to keep myself pretty grounded when it comes to Mazon stuff, because I’m horribly bad at ID’ing anything in a concretion. That said, any chance this is an annelid worm? Thank you as always! Sauropod19
@Fossildude19 Thank you for your efforts! Do you use your phone or a software like Photoshop? I should start doing that moving forward!
Mark Kmiecik
Not very well preserved. My guess is yes to worm. I wouldn't even guess at species. 1 1 Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
Rockwood
Might millipede be another possibility?

That’s perfectly fair, there’s very little detail aside from shape. Thank you. 45 minutes ago, Rockwood said: Might millipede be another possibility? Pit 11 tends to contain more of the Essex Biota (marine species) if I recall, and I don’t really see signs of body segmentation, so I don’t necessarily think so. But I’m certainly not an expert, your note is appreciated. Edited February 24 by Sauropod19

I should start doing that moving forward! I use a PC, and the free software Photoscape 3.7. Very easy and intuitive to use. 3 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Distinct segmentation or evidence of appendages or both would be diagnostic of millipede, but I don't see either. May be visible in hand, but I'm not seeing them in the photo. Could be millipede but the taper in the area of the break in the matrix is inconsistent with that diagnosis. 2 Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
