TXAngel
Found this round rock amongst other fossil rocks, but it was so round that it stood out to me. I was hoping to cut it open and find it was a geode. At first I made one small cut and could see that the inside was chalk-like, so I tossed it to the side and wasnt going to bother with it anymore. But I noticed the very center was a different color. It looked pink, so I knocked out one quarter of the thick outer layer of that chalky stuff, and then some more, and this is what was inside. Does anybody else think this could be an egg with a baby dinosaur inside? Kane
Unfortunately not. It seems to be some sort of oxide mineral crust of some kind. It lacks any similar morphology to egg texture or anything dinosaurian (which would appear as bones, but fossil bones inside eggs are incredibly rare). 5 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

Fossildude19
Sorry, but I am not seeing any fossils here. An interesting concretion, maybe, but that is it. TXAngel
Thank you for your quick response. I have often found rocks covered in layers of sediment that has hardened into a harder stone, but it usually seems like the sediment consumes whatever it is coating, and turns it into limestone and/or calcite or quartz. This one hasn't morphed at all. I get that it's probably not an egg or a baby dino, but I've never seen such a thick outer layer like this one. And the inner thing has a slight glow. Any other ideas?
