Matrix Stabilization

Hi. My nephew has a Halite specimen that is on a matrix that is increasingly unstable. We suspect that the matrix may have a high salt content. Is there any agent/solution that would help in stabilizing a matrix with a potential salt content?  Thanks.

If you are very careful, thin CA (superglue) might work- be careful to not get any on your hands or the crystal(s).  Alternatively (if you have it) Paraloid B-72 will work well.  I have used it to stabilize matrix similar to your nephew's specimen.  Hope this helps
