Hi, I found this in the London Clay at Beltinge Herne Bay, can anyone please help with ID of what it possibly might be? its around 8cm long and 2-3mm thick. it was dark when I found it and is now getting lighter in colour as it dries. Seems to have a few layers and the middle layer is a little transparent maybe?

Thanks for any help in IDing,

Kylie

I think it's a piece of a weathered recent mussel.
