I found this while sifting material from a known fossil brook in Monmouth County, New Jersey. I though it might be a tooth, but I am not sure. It is hollow and somewhat brittle. It was found in the brook. Thanks in advance for any help/ideas of what this could be!

Well, it's not a tooth. It doesn't have any enamel, so ... not a tooth. Could be a burrow/trace fossil, or an odd piece of bone. (Though, I highly doubt bone.)

Conversely, it could also be a rhizolith/root cast from a plant.
