Sauronitholestes07
Hi everyone, seller claims this was found in the Hell Creek Formation, and that it is from a Sauronitholestes, the tooth measures up to approximately 3/16”.
ThePhysicist
Hello, and welcome to the forum. HCF theropods get harder to ID with confidence the smaller they get. Saurornitholestes is not properly described from the HCF, so I can rule that out. Looks like the mesial carina is worn away, so that hinders the ID further. Best I can say is theropod. Also check which county it came from to confirm it's indeed from the HCF. 1 4 "Argumentation cannot suffice for the discovery of new work, since the subtlety of Nature is greater many times than the subtlety of argument." - Carl Sagan "I was born not knowing and have had only a little time to change that here and there." - Richard Feynman Collections: Hell Creek Microsite | Hell Creek/Lance | Dinosaurs | Sharks | Squamates | Post Oak Creek | North Sulphur River | Lee Creek | Aguja | Permian | Devonian | Triassic | Harding Sandstone Instagram: @thephysicist_tff
JoeS
Hi, next to the information on the county it was found in, you could also ask for an image of the cross section of the tooth, might help with the ID.
