Shark tooth ID

Greetings all, I was looking back through some specimens I found on the bank of the Broad River in Beaufort, SC a few years ago. Found this nice sized piece and have not been able to identify. I thought maybe Lemon, but the root seemed to be not quite the right shape. Anyone have any insights?

Hmmm,  If I found this tooth in Florida,  it would be a Mako... but I am not an expert on SC Sharks that might not have roamed Florida.

Mako (Isurus) was my first thought, but I also incorrectly IDed a Carcharodon hastalis as an Isurus recently, so I could be wrong.  :)

My favorite things about fossil hunting: getting out of my own head, getting into nature and, if I’m lucky, finding some cool souvenirs.

I have found both short-fin and broad tooth mako fossils here in SC on numerous occasions.  Looking at yours, mako does seem a plausible option. Thank you for sharing pics for comparison!
