ezeemonee
Found some nice Miocene period fish fossils in 2020. They have been ID'ed as Xyne grex (Extinct Herring Relative) but other and larger fish species fossils as well as shark teeth have been found there too. There is some Great info on this site here!: https://www.nautiloid.net/fossils/sites/jalama/jalama.html
Fossildude19
Not sure how this was identified to genus and species, with the caudal fin in such a disarticulated state. There are numerous fish genus and species in the Miocene shales of that area. Was this positively identified by a researcher or paleontologist? Granted, there are people who know much more about the area than I. Just wondering what features led to that ID? 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." ezeemonee
Yeah I don't remember who recommended the ID as its been a few years. I don't see a way to update the original post but thanks for the inputs that its not a definitive ID!
