Recommended Posts

Hello,

Any thoughts on this? A Mosasaurus skull. Is it fake, real or a composite or real and fake parts?

cheers

Fake.

As usual teeth are real, but rest of the skull is mostly sand and glue with bits of bone.

There's no such thing as too many teeth.

While the skull is comprised of a fair amount of bone fragments, most of it is held together with sand and glue. And while the teeth are real, they're almost certainly all placed. It's rare for skulls to be found with this high a number of teeth still in their original places. Additionally, the skull's anatomy matches that a Gavialimimus almaghribensis more than the teeth would suggest - which are likely Thalassotitan atrox, though might include some Eremiasaurus heterodontus. Conclusion: bad fake!

Better stay away from it, its a composed one,  real bone and teeth are in it, but its mostly fake. There are far better ones Out there.

Are good signatures really that important ?

Pretty much what others and Pachy said. Its a plaster artwork ;- )

They have done it so many times , they sculp from pieces of bone and plaster a Mosasaurus skull-like sculpture.

But besides the glued in teeth not much original . Avoid
