New Members Zackarr Posted April 23 New Members Share Posted April 23 I found this along a riverbank in central Minnesota. The part that I identified as the head is about 4cm long, from the beak tip to back of head. It seams to be a small field bird or maybe just a rock... any help? Kane
This would be a piece of limestone. There is nothing in this piece that has the symmetry, bones, or overall morphology of a fossil avian. 1 1 3 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

Ludwigia
I agree with the above statements. Maybe the OP would like to thank us for our input Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Ludwigia
I guess the OP is at a loss for words, as many of these first posters in the ID section are. Sometimes I ask myself why I bother, but then of course there are just as many polite ones who react courteously. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. That said, I interpret the benefit of even non-responses differently; for every person who posts an item, there may be five or more others who have something similar, so our replies become educational and informative to others -- even and especially when we show our thought process. Brianp
Some people have great imaginations. I thought I was one. But I see absolutely NOTHING in that rock that resembles a bird or anything else for that matter, no matter how long i stare at it. Not a slam to the OP - more of a kudos for a great imagination
