Hey all!

Requesting your help identifying an interesting selection of teeth found by @jcor246 and me down on the ol’ Peace River, FL.

(For brevity, separate ID posts featuring the non-toothy specimens collected on this outing will follow shortly.🆔🆘)

Thanks,

Jena and Josh

1 might be a piece of a megalodon...I believe I'm seeing a worn bourlette.

3 looks like a tiger shark, but I don't know what kinds they have in FL...someone else can be more specific.  4 may also be a tiger or possibly a Physogaleus contortus...I'm not sure based on the wear.

5 is a Hemipristis serra.

  • I found this Informative 1

6 is an alligator tooth. I think. Looks like something nibbled on it.  Good size too!

Thanks; that was my guess, but I wasn't sure. :) We have more odontocete teeth in Summerville than gators.

Thanks! We were thinking gator! Did not think those were nibbles, though. Very cool.

Thanks! 5 is one my favorites. The serrations are so defined. Crazy!  We were also hoping 1 would be a piece of meg. Someone who was digging about 50 feet away from us found a nice in-tact 2 in. meg tooth. the search continues!
