I found this in Missouri (McDonald County) on some friends property recently. They got a big rain a few days ago, so, we went out

looking for rocks. I've never seen anything like it before, however, I am not really knowledgeable about this area. There are a few caves in McDonald County, but, there are no caves (as far as I know) on my friends property.

What do you think?

fun rock.  Certainly not a stalagmite (or tite).  Cave deposits are made of limestone, which this is not.

The "bottom" of it looks like part of a concretion, to me.

Looks like ironstone.

I was thinking the bottom (and maybe the top) look like stromatolites.

Could be.

I know nothing about stromatolites.  Worth looking into, at least.
