Brevicollis
Hello, while I was photographing my meteorites, I noticed that the biggest one was rusting ! How can I get the rust away, and can prevent this from happening ? How can you store them properly, it was just laying for a couple of months in my collection without getting touched ! All the other ones dont show any signs of rust on them, why only on this one !? Please help, I dont want to see my biggest meteorite crumbling to dust in front of my eyes, Please help, this is an emergency !!!!!!!!! (Ok, I might've overreacted there) Edited May 10 by Brevicollis I like fossils... Thats all I have to say.
Balance
You need to keep stuff like that in a box or case with dehumidifier packets inside it. Keep the moisture out and no corrosion. As for getting surface rust off??? I’d try a toothbrush with possibly a tiny bit of generic lubricant spray.Wipe clean and store as mentioned. If you handle them your body oils will rust them too. So you might need gloves. Obviously, fancy white ones. 😊. Jp
Brevicollis
Thank you ! Will light blue gloves also do the job instead of white ones? Edited May 10 by Brevicollis I like fossils... Thats all I have to say.
Balance
Yes. 😊. I was being silly. Joking how museums wear crisp white gloves to handle artifacts. Jp

Hair dryer. 1 1 Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Balance
A real cheap and easy way to suck the moisture out of anything is to put it in a sealed container or baggie with uncooked rice. Leave it closed up for a week and the rice will pull any moisture from the deepest cracks and crevices. I do it with small pieces of wood to guarantee they aren’t going to move once they become inlays. Jp
