Hi!
I wanna know about Species of leonaspis.
If from Hmar Laghdad, Morocco.
And this trilobite has pointed horn.

The trilobite together in the rock is a Reedops cephalotes.

What is it?

Thank you!

Typically Leonaspis has two pairs of spines between the pygidial major border spines and Kettneraspis has one pair of spines.

Unfortunately, the poor preparation and preservation of the pygidial features does not allow for a confident ID of the genus.

Thanks for your reply.

I found a similar-looking trilobite on online fossil retailer, but it's difficult to tell whether the trilobite from online fossil retailer is Leonaspis or Kettneraspis.

Do you know the species of this trilobite?

That is Kettneraspis sp. with one pair of spines between the major border spines.

Thank you!

Could it be difficult to classify the species?

Correct....that is the reason I suggested the label: Kettneraspis sp.  There are numerous odontopleurids from Morocco that have not been formally described.

It's disappointing that we're still unable to classify many species.
But, although my major isn't paleontology, I think it's good from another perspective because there are still many topics available for writing papers.

Thank you!
