Loxodonta45
Hey all! I found this on the North Sulfur river bank (popular fossil hunting site) in Texas. I was wondering if it might be a piece of jaw with a single tooth sticking out (very aged/worn)? Or maybe just a fun looking rock 😂 The tooth in question seems to have a very different composition to the surrounding material. There is an exposed portion and then a portion that extends upward into the brown layer of rock. There also appears to be a clear delineation between the brown and black layers of rock (see arrow). I was wondering if the brown layer of rock may be a piece of jaw? Would love ya’lls opinion! if not a fossil - a fun rock specimen for sure! Fin Lover
Sorry, but I'm not seeing a tooth. Are you referring to the part circled below? 1 Fin Lover
Fossildude19
No tooth - but maybe a tooth socket?? The item in question (in my opinion) is too worn down to confidently ID beyond Chunk-o-saur/Chunk-o-there, though. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Thank you!!
