hello, I’m new here but I was wondering if this is a fossil I’ve found of the shore in Maui? It resembles a tooth, I’m not sure if shark or some other creature, it feels like stone and I’m not too familiar with fossils so I’m not sure if it’s just a cool shaped rock/coral

Hello,

This piece first appears to be a shark tooth from some angles,

But its way to thick and hollow for a shark tooth or any other tooth in this sice Screenshot_2024-05-25-08-25-19-442_com.android.chrome-edit.thumb.jpg.8bc6e513e2a6e94708ea90e1553a7269.jpg

For comparison, one of my shark teeth fron the same angles :Screenshot_2024-05-25-08-35-16-009_com.android.chrome-edit.thumb.jpg.f14d6f320816eeb5aa4de761ed5c7efd.jpg

See the difference ? There is also no enamel and tooth structure, and because its thick, hollow, and has the shape of one, I would say, without beeing an expert, that this is crab claw. Crab claws are usually hollow, a bit curved, and have whatever this is called in english, some species have more or less of them on their claws : Screenshot_2024-05-25-08-49-56-527_com.android.chrome-edit.thumb.jpg.b26d4fa82b67e1f4441821a67ea7e41d.jpg

Thats why I see a crab claw here.

Lets hear, what other members have to say, if I could be wrong or something like that.
