New Members Shawike Posted August 3, 2010 New Members Share Posted August 3, 2010 So after getting such great results from posting the recent bone find I had arrowhead hunting, I took a little dig through some of the things I've found on sites known for Native American artifacts. This small bone appeared unique to me, it has some brown smooth finish on it in a few spots that almost seems like some sort of ochre stain. It seems impossible to me, but you guys are throwing out some amazing identification answers on these threads that I just can't believe, so I feel like you will know what it is, it would interest me greatly so I could apply that with what I know about the natives to know if it is in fact a part of what they left behind. (Sorry about the number of photos if that's annoying, I was unsure which ones gave you guys the view you needed to identify, and which were the clearest.) Harry Pristis
It appears to be a deer phalanx with a missing epiphysis (growth plate). http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
brachiomyback
I concur with Harry; however, I find the bone looks a little "alien" to me.
