keith douglas
Hi, Please find attached several images of various ammonites found locally for possible ID. These all look the same 'type' to my inexperienced eye, so Ive uploaded them at the same time. From limited research most of the area around here would be of Jurassic age. There is a good paper describing different ammonites geographically close by where I found these (within 20km) titled 'Upper Bajocian-Lower Bathonian Ammonite fauna and Stratigraphy of the Smithers Area' 1973 Frebold & Tipper. But from the pictures in a photocopy of the paper, these dont resemble any included in the paper. The ammonites in the paper seem to have much closer, finer ribbing. It is rare to get full curl specimens...but you do see the odd one. Ive included one image of a full curl (#3). #4 has been cleaned off a bit....#3 is still in original found shape. Any ideas or comments appreciated. Keith
