sixgill pete
Thanks all. Greel, as much as I love my meg, i was at GMR about 6 or 7 months ago and came upon a fellow who had a 5 1/2 incher that was in just as good shape as mine. Said he found it just laying on the bottom. I went there today and found my best Great White I have ever found, 2 1/4 super sharp serrations , all intact and most of the root, heres a pic of it. That ugly looking fella with the 5 1/2 inch meg was me. I remember meeting two guys and a gal that day behind the apartments near 10th street, so I'm guessing that was you. Nice big great white - a trip maker for sure. When did you find your meg? Seems good teeth have been coming out lately. -greel

It may have been you who had the 5 1/2 inch meg, i was with a friend, but no gal. The picture of the Great White I found today, really does not do it justice. Are (were) you with the East Coast Fossil Club? We had a group dig that day, so there were several diggers in the creek. -greel

There is plenty of creteacous stuff in GMR. We find lots of crow sharks. Mososaur teeth are one of my favorite finds from there.
sixgill pete
I found my meg digging, it was actually down about 2 feet just above the layer of that greenish clay. while megs sometimes are plentiful there, at least pieces, whole good quality ones are scarce. hope you find yours Tarhel59. There is such an enourmas variety of stuff that comes out of there. I have found many types of shark teeth of course, including some beautiful crowshark, large mako's, goblin, very few but large tigers. some hemi's , and many that are worn that i am not sure. thats besides the megs and great whites. I have mososaur teeth, whale teeth, all kinds of fish and some shark verts, bones galore. i have found a base (broken) of a walrus tusk. a complete whale rib, 4 inch long barnacles arrowheads, shards of indian pottery, petrified wood and some ivory that was identified by the smithsonian as mammoth or mastodon. I have also seen a tooth that someone else found that i believe was a juvenile either mammoth or mastodon. not to mention some of the old bottles. sixgill pete
Rick, there is definitely a plethora of fossils there, i think that different area's of the creek offer a different variety, but who knows. We should get together there sometime and do some hunting.
