sixgill pete
I was searching through some matrix from Lee Creek last night for micro fossils and I found this awesome Lower Notorynchus primigenuis (Sevengill Cow Shark). It is about 7-8 mm long. An average adult lower is around 25 mm. This is without a doubt the smallest I have ever found. This will make a great addition to my growing micro fossil collection. barefootgirl
I would have never seen that, you have some good eyes. It's a fantastic little find BTW. sixgill pete
Thanks barefootgirl. I don't know about the good eyes part. I take pre-sifted matrix, wash all of the dirt out, let it dry and check it indoors under a good light on a white plate; using my reading glasses and a good loupe. With out that, i would not find anything. MikeDOTB
Wow, thats a small tooth. How many notorynchus would you say you have found, and how long have you been going through Lee Creek Spoils? DO, or do not. There is no try.

How many notorynchus would you say you have found, and how long have you been going through Lee Creek Spoils? This is by far the smallest I have found. Between spoil piles and from inside the mine, I have 17 complete Notorynchus; 6 uppers and 11 lowers. I also have about 50 or so pieces, from almost whole to just a bit. I also have 1 broken lower Hexanchus and 2 upper Hexanchus. I have been searching the spoil piles for about 5 years I would say.
