Ordovician_Odyssey
Hi Guys, After a long winter, I was able to get back to one of my favorite spots; a Billings fm. outcrop. And boy, did it ever reward me for my long winter's wait! A brachiopod I have yet to see in the formation! Some very nice Triarthrus spinosus'! A Triarthrus pygidium... not sure on species.. Some brachiopods which are fairly common to the site. -Shamus -Shamus The Ordovician enthusiast.

piranha
There are a few species of Triarthrus listed in Ontario. I will go with Triarthrus eatoni based on the axial nodes present on your specimen. Nice haul Shamus!

Diplotomodon
A very nice haul, good job! What a wonderful menagerie! Who would believe that such as register lay buried in the strata? To open the leaves, to unroll the papyrus, has been an intensely interesting though difficult work, having all the excitement and marvelous development of a romance. And yet the volume is only partly read. Many a new page I fancy will yet be opened. -- Edward Hitchcock, 1858 Formerly known on the forum as Crimsonraptor @Diplotomodon on Twitter

Guest N.AL.hunter
Looks like that must be a really nice spot. Matrix is really fragile? I hate it when the stuff won't split into perfect sheets (almost never!!)
Ordovician_Odyssey
Thank you for the confirmation, Don! Del... Yes, the matrix is very fragile... and as you can see in the photos, the shale have been split through some of the fossils! -Shamus The Ordovician enthusiast.
