lotsofpets
Are there any fossil hunting opportunities near West Palm Beach or Daytona, Florida? Or any where in between for that matter? I am going to a reptile expo in Daytona in mid-August. Besides field herping, I wanted to know if there was anything else interesting to do down there. Wendell Ricketts
Hey Lotsof - I live in that area and, as far as I've been able to tell, it's pretty slim pickings. Not many groups active in this area, not many field trips, not many places to go unless you have private access to a very few quarries further south. I'd definitely be interested in helping organize something, but I have to say that my attempts to get information about what's happening in SE Florida have mostly been unsuccessful. If you hear anything different, let us know! lotsofpets
Thanks for your replies. I did find this - not too sure how much of a help it will be though. http://sofia.usgs.gov/publications/maps/florida_geology/ The only opportunities I will have to hunt for anything will be on Fri. the 19th in the morning and afternoon, and Monday the 22nd in the morning probably. Thanks, Andrea
