Frank Menser
Found this at a East NC auction. It measures 3.5" and is made of a silica shale. I believe it to be a Morrow Mountain point--possibly of a spear. Any experts out there that can shed light on this? Edited July 17, 2011 by Frank Menser Be true to the reality you create. Just Bob
Hey Frank, I am no expert by any means but my guess is that it is a knife. lordpiney
it's actually a morrow mountain 2 blade. middle archaic period. looks like it's made of ryolite. probably a knife, like bob said. very nice frank.

Thanks guys The size had me confused, bigger than one and smaller than the other... It's not rhyolite though. when you see it in person, there are typical shale layering splits. Kind of amazing to me it held up in such good condition, one good wack would have finished it. Be true to the reality you create.
