RickNC
Went to a quarry last Friday. Found this somewhat decent ric. I took a camera and got some in situ shots as I found it. The tip is rounded and the root has some wear on the labial side but it is still decent. Can't really see in the pics but the serrations are nice and it has both cusplets. Shellseeker
Nice find!! There is always something special about that first of a kind. A thrill that is really different when instead of hearing about others finding one, you yourself pick one up. I am always pleasantly surprised. RickNC
very nice color on that one, love the orange tones. do you get a lot of that color in NC? It seemed in this particular location yes. It varies. Even teeth from the same place can be different colors. I saw several pieces of teeth in this quarry that were white. I also found a decent horse tooth the same day. Rics are few and far between so I was pretty happy with it. Thanks all.

Sharkbyte
Rick, That is a very nice find indeed and the dirt that it is laying in looks like it was full of micro fossils. Would have been cool to see what was in a shovel or two. That is awesome. What else did you find besides the Ric and the horse tooth? Several really worn teeth and pieces of teeth. I was not impressed with the fossils there overall. The teeth were more worn than gmr teeth. sixgill pete
Hmmmm, i have found some very nice teeth there in the past, but the collecting area is supposed to be from a newly mined area. Hope it is not a tell tale sign of the future. Hope it is not a tell tale sign of the future. I was talking to a guy out there that frequents the place. He said the current collecting area was quite picked over. He may have just been telling me that though. He had found a few medium sized megs but all were very very worn.
