hokiehunter
I was able to get out this weekend and hit my favorite spots. The weather was really nice (for fossil collecting.... 30 degrees and 30 mph winds) and the tides cooperated. All total the attached pics are the best finds from about 10 hours of combined hunting. I found all of the makos before the 2 megs. Not that I am complaining because I do love finding the big makos but usually I can I find a meg or so for every 3 or so big makos so finding 10 makos without a meg had me thinking the meg gods were ticked at me. I was about ready to give up on finding a meg when the 2.875" posterior jumped into my scoop. I had actually only picked it up because I thought it was an odd shaped bone. Lesson to all... when in doubt pick it up. You can always throw it back down. Anyways the meg is in amazing condition with a full burlette and no chipped serrations. Easily one of my best teeth and one I will be staring at for a while to come. My other favorites are the cow, the large 1.5 inch croc and the 2 inch "fire" mako. The fire mako is a little worn but the colors on the tooth are incredible. Also, 8 of the Makos measure right at or just over 2 inches so a pretty good haul considering I've never found more than 2 in a similar time span of hunting. All in all a great few days that will keep me going until I can get out again next.

MikeDOTB
Hey Hokie, GREAT FINDS. Always a good day when you find a mess of Makos and in those conditions, but that meg is definitely icing on the cake. Love the coloration of it. These were Virginia finds, and not Calvert Cliff finds? DO, or do not. There is no try.

cowsharks
Jason, not 100% sure, but that sweet Meg looks almost a little Pathological. Something just a little odd about the slight lop-sided shape when viewing the lingual side. Really sweet tooth! Daryl.
hokiehunter
Hi Daryl, Thanks. I agree that it has a slight pathology to it. I was actually looking at it last night (in honesty I've been looking at it every night since Sunday ) and it also has a neat little twist to it when looking at it from the tip down. I'm really stoked about all of the finds though and looking forward to my next trip already but unfortunately it looks like that won't happen until mid March. Patience is a virtue I guess... Thanks to all that commented and good luck out there! The year is young and lots of good stuff is waiting to be found.
