fossiladdict
I'm way behind on posting pictures, mainly because I've been so busy with 2 jobs and trying to get everything else done in between. Posting most of my finds from the past few months. It's just beginning to rain well here so hopefully it will continue so I can get out and hunt more! Enjoy... My favorites: Found this bad boy today Pycnodont Bottle with a pig on it Washita birdie tooth on right is 2 1/2" And the rest of the favs: Fossils are simply one of the coolest things on earth--discovering them is just marvelous! fossiladdict
You are looking at various types of sharks teeth from around the area (I'm in the Northern part of Texas), ptychodus teeth (mostly whipplei), at least 3 x-fish verts, a shark vert, coprolite, worn mosasaur vert, mosasaur tooth or 2, enchodus palatine or 2, armadillo scute, beaver jaw (not fossilized), I believe the red ammo is a menabite, the other two are imprints, baculite, gastrpods, pelecypods, lobster claw, enamel pieces, bottles/glass I find when I'm out, a few points, and a few other things. If there is something in particular you want me to see if I can identify, let me know. Fossils are simply one of the coolest things on earth--discovering them is just marvelous! fossiladdict
Some very good finds, Lyla..!! Someone has been cleaning up.. I like the bottles too.. I'll bet you have quite the collection of those too!! Haha now you know Roz that I couldn't just leave those bottles! Some that I find are really cool and old. I'm always amazed at how those bottles have been there laying around (some for around 100 years) and have not broken to pieces. Of course, there are plenty of broke pieces as well. Love the pig bottle and the little ink bottle. A lot of those are from POC and back in the old days, POC was the common dumpster for many who lived here. Little did any of them know that years later, many of us would be picking up their trash thrilled to find it! Jeff/Tarheel Jeff- I will PM you. The Pig bottle on the front says "Success Bottling Works, trademark registered, Chicago" and the back of it says "This bottle is never sold or abandoned." We got a kick out of that phrase. The ink bottle says Carter's Indelible Ink." These are just the bottles that I have found in the past few months- plenty of favs...those were just my favs here recently. Yeah- imagine how many bottles I would have if they were all whole! Oh yeah, that's about what you usually find in one outing when you're not working 7 jobs Bob- that's too funny. That's actually less than 10 trips out and like today, I only got to spend a little over an hour out, because I had to do a photo shoot this afternoon. I'm ready for some time off...but want the rain to pour before I do lol. That's November-January pretty much with the exception of what I found today. MikeDOTB
Hey FossilAddict, long time no see, thanks for the post and sharing your finds, you have made some awesome ones. Wow, that 2.5" tooth has to be the largest I have ever heard of from Texas! Congrats! Quite a wide assortment of finds! Two or more jobs really cut back on the fossil hunting time though, I have felt that pain before, I keep telling myself that I didnt quit the second job because it was adversely effecting the fossil hunting, but it might be true Ha ha, again, great finds, and thanks for the sharing! Mike DO, or do not. There is no try.

And jeff, I have found some bottles is GMR close to 100 years old, one was a whiskey bottle with the cork still in it. I am sure there are some old bottles there Don, majority I find are applied decals 1950- 70 and lots of newer glass Beer wine etc.. They are just alot rarer than POC or Sulphur finds I am sure. I have found marbles though... Lyla has a nice variety of bottles from just a couple months. Nice bottles from GMR are rarer than a Meg from there. Mike Yes the 2 1/2" one brought out a few words when I found it lol (but not the largest here). My hobby (photography) has turned into a second job due to demand, but that's o.k. because it provides extra spending money. Yes long time no see . fossiladdict
Nice P.latissimus in first pic.. Not sure that one is a lattisimus as it has eight, not 5-6 ridges. My thought is it's a connellyi. Fossils are simply one of the coolest things on earth--discovering them is just marvelous! Makes you all giddy inside!
