kirk
Booked a charter to dive for fossils for 3 days out of Venice. My son was out on spring break and it is hard for me to get time off from work, so we were committed to those dates. Gale force winds blew for the five days we were down there, so we had to go to plan B, the Peace River. Stayed in Arcadia for 3 days. Rented a canoe each day and stopped and sifted at various spots. The weather was great, besides the wind. David found a couple of nice Megs and a great Mako the last day. Have to find where he stashed them to get a photo. Greeting committee. Glyptodon osteo derme Large Hemi Dugong tooth? Tailgate shot Found one area that was just full of Dugong bones. Brought back some for my fossil garden. Posted some other finds on the id forum. Was a fun trip, always enjoy exploring new areas. Bonus find in my sifter. Broken gold chain.

MikeDOTB
The greeting committee is great, kind of a reminder to cross your I's and dot your tee's before heading out in the wild... Wait a minute...... Anyways, great finds, love the Hemis! DO, or do not. There is no try.

SharkLee
Glad you had a plan B. The Peace is always a good plan B.....except when the water's high. When it's at the level it is now, it's plan A. A good day hunting is, well..... a GOOD DAY.
Beckyb
You found some nice things. I was on the Pace river years ago. The river area is beautiful and a couple of nice fossils found but no gold. Did you have a rainbow to follow?
kirk
Thanks. The gold was a bonus. Have found a few coins in the Peace before, but never any jewelry. Told my son I would trade it to him for a couple of Megs, but he declined.
Cris
Wouldn't it have been odd if there was a wire wrapped shark tooth attached to the chain? Nice finds!
Shellseeker
Sweet!!! Great find on the Mako -- they are rare at this size. The Peace River is a gift that keeps on giving!! It is like an Easter egg hunt rolled into Christmas morning --- and that is true EVEN IF you do not manage to find great fossils.
