Martijn
Harleyville, SC. 4th March 2012 We met our guides on the quary's parking. They had arranged all, so we could start some serious fossilcollecting. We started out on some recent dumppiles, but besides some sanddollars and broken and small teeth we didn't find that much. A little later we went to a location loaded with the famous "green". Here it was that Michel came up to us with a little smile on his face..... I would have screamed and jumped at least 2 meters from the ground. Woow a very large Auriculatis. About 30 min later it was my turn to cheer; I had found halv of an Archeocete molar! We have been looking for the other halv, actually for the complete skeleton LOL But no such luck Time to move on to yet another location, where Michel found another (smaller) Auri, right in the open, where the rest of use walked by a couple of min before... Our final location was a good place to look for Hexanchus teeth. But to get there we had to cross a big "mudpoole". My 9 year old son had got himself stuck up to his knees and I had to "leopard crawl" to get him out. On this location we found quite some of the smaller teeth and when we where on our way back to the car I picked up this beauty of a Hexanchus with 12 cusplets! Harleyville was a big succes! The Peace River, Gainesville and Charleston trips will follow soon. Martijn Edited March 19, 2012 by Martijn Qua patet orbis

Martijn
Hi there folks, I am not sure which quarry it is. I heard there are more then one out in Harleyville. I had never been there before, but could it be that it is the old La Farge quarry? Regards, Martijn Qua patet orbis
Paleoc
Heading Southeast towards Charleston on I-20. If it was on the left side of the interstate (north) then it was Giant Cement. If if was on the right side (South, just past the gas station) it was LaFarge.

Angus Stydens
I am sure it must have been the Giant Cement Quarry since LaFarge (now owned by a new company whose name I can't recall) does not allow any collecting. AeroMike
I doubt is is LaFarge, that has been closed since there was a death out at the quarry. I bet it is Giant Cement and I have been trying to get in there myself but so far no luck. I must be missing something, lol I just want to go in there one time~!!!!!!
