Gainesville 28-02-2012 to 01-03-2012

Driving from Wauchula to Gainesville took almost 5 hours. But after we had checked in, we decided to see if we could find acreek to see what we were up against ;)

We saw a lot of signs with "privat creek" and didn't dare to start looking there (you American shoot at anything or anyone, hahahaha). We found a little creek parked the car and started sifting for an hour or so. Nothing spectecular, small teeth but the colour on them was very nice.

That evening I took contact with Cris and the day after he and his girlfriend/wife (sorry Cris, I am not sure anymore, hahaha) were our guides. We exchanged some fossils and started our hunt. We found a lot of teeth, but again most of them were small. Gainesville creeks are "like a box of chocolate, you never know what you get."

Next day we went by ourselves to the same spot. Jan and Michel found some small Megs,...... Quentin and I didn't :( LOL

These were from the second day.

On friday Cris took Jan and Michel to hunt the Santa Fe and Quentin and I went to Orlando to visit Universal studios and ride the Hulk at the Island of Adventure.

Although the teeth were small, I like hunting the Gainesville creeks! Hope to come back there next year ;)

Regards,

Martijn

Glad to see you had a good time and found a lot of fossils.

I spent a month in Norway in 1994 for the Olympics (My sister was a speed skater for USA). It's so funny that you mentioned guns in this forum. In Norway I got into a lot of conversations on gun control.

I hate to say it, but the Norwegians are right!

There is nothing (LEGAL) you can do in the US that you can't do in Norway. The only exception is, that it must be done with a rifle. Handguns are not permitted. Also, you can't just go shooting anytime and pop off as many shoots as you feel like. The ammunition is a little more regulated. The bottom line is, you can hunt to your hearts content, you just can't shoot another human!
