Teeth,teeth, Lots O'teeth

went out Sun to my usual spot in the Bangor Limestone, wasnt finding a whole lot at first but a whim made me decide to check out a large boulder from which Ive collected three teeth before. And wow did I miss a lot of them. With the teeth is this weird black stuff.

so lets get to the finds:

most of the teeth were not complete but a few were..

Near perfect back of the mouth (If Im reading the drawing correctly) Helodus...

A heart breaking half of an otherwise perfect Helodus..hmmm, wondering if the other half isnt in my collection already.....

some psephodus I believe..though some look to be too thick for psephodus...

not sure what kind this one is. There is still enamel covering the bradyodont structures..

and some of the fragments (including in the upper right a small piece of petalodus.)

now for something completely different...a nice piece of shale (from the accompanying Hartselle Formation) with Fucoid or Brown algae (a.k.a. seaweed)

front; which will have to be on the next post... :D

ahem, as I was saying...this was confirmed by the U of T when I first found some and brought it the the Knoxville Rockhounds gem and mineral show in 2010.
