Going Up High In Eastern Kentucky

I was able to check out a Pennsylvanian marine bed in South Eastern Kentucky, I had to climb well over 100 feet to get to it. If you have ever been to the Floyd Co. area on Hwy 80 you will know what I mean. When I was in my 20s that was no big deal, now in my 50s it is a major feat. The out crops have become more vegetated since the last time I was there but I was able to pull a few gems out of the shale bed.

The first two pictures are of a very nice Ammonite Paralegoceras, the next three are of a crushed Nautiloid I had to pull out in peices Temnocheilus The next three are of Brachiopods Composita, Linoproductus, and I think Derbyia and a Gastropod, three pictures of two pelecypods and the last one is a lingula.

I get nose bleed that high up and end up with road rash on my butt when I slide back down.

Great finds
