Hipockets
I had this idea about snorkeling Lake Waccamaw,NC. Anyone ever worked the Lake, I know it does produce fossils.
Auspex
Interesting idea; how silted-up is it? sixgill pete
That is an interesting idea. I am not sure what the bottom structure of the Lake is throughout. But the area's along the northern shoreline where the limestone bluffs are could be promising. I would imagine the area's with large amounts of cypress are rather muddy, but the places where there are sandy beaches could also hold fossils. If you go on elasmo.com and click on faunas, then in the left column click Waccamaw; there are two names at the bottom of the page that you can e-mail. Try sending e-mails maybe you can get some info that way. sixgill pete
I was just doing some more research on Lake Waccamaw and found this at www.ncparks.gov .... from the boating page .... Lake Waccamaw is park property; all park rules apply. then from the rules page, under natural resources ...... The removal, destruction or injury of any tree, flower, artifact, fern, shrub, rock or other plant or mineral in any park is prohibited unless with an approved collection permit for scientific or educational purposes.
