valuehorse
here is my trilobite that i've had for a long time. i'm having a hard time identifying it and was hoping somebody here could help. at first i thought it was an Asaphid trilobite but after some reading i'm starting to think it may be something like bumastus illaenina. its 66 mm in length and i have no idea where it comes from. please help!! thnx
TheFossilHunter
dont have any materials on me right now to id this guy but from the color i gather that it is probably from russia.
txemiku
It is an Illaenus sp. from Russia or Sweden. I guess it could be I. sarsi from lower Ordoviciun. Very nice fossil by the way!!
Guest solius symbiosus
Yep, it looks like an Illaenus(Bumastus). Looks similar to some of the ones that come from the St. Petersburg area.
valuehorse
thanks txemiku, i think its a nice fossil too. also my largest trilobite! thanks for the id solius symbiosus. St. Petersburg is probably where it came from. i'm wanting to reduce my collection a bit and i considered selling it. i looked around on ebay and most of the trilobites on there weren't being bid on. what do you suppose this one is worth? Phoenixflood
i've always wanted a pine cone fossil or a ginkgo leaf... I do have some leaves, but no ginko. And I don't have any pine cones but I have a cycad seed and some fern fossils. The soul of a Fossil Hunter is one that is seeking, always.
