Adherent Bivalve

Here I have to show you an adherent bivalve, i.e., bivalves that attach to hard surfaces.

See image two which shows in red the area that was attached in life to what appears to have been a large inoceramid-like bivalve, based on the ornament. Most likely the shell they were attached to was aragonitic and did not preserve, so they may well be in life position.

Lower Chalk (Middle Cenomanian), Cretaceous 70 - 90 myo.
