Thunderstorm Threshers

Hello everyone,

With the recent bouts of stormy weather, the temptation to get out on the beach has been too much to resist. The wave action and strong currents (on account of our recent large tide swings) have removed some of the finer sediment that had settled on top of the productive bone-bearing layer underneath, exposing fome better teeth. While this post represents two days of hunting in three seperate spots, both giant threshers (Alopias grandis) were found on the same day on the same beach, a feat for any great fossil site.

The other sites yielded similarly nice finds, including two decent Carcharocles angustiden, a large (1.5") Hemipristis serra, and many additional bones and teeth.

All-in-all a very productive few days on my favorite local beaches. Thanks for taking a look and as always...

Happy Hunting,

CBK
