darrow
I picked these up over the summer in pleistocene age Galveston Bay dredge spoils. I think I recognize the "shaft" fragments as artiodatyl metapodial fragments, the end piece I less sure about but guessing it might be a distal end. So what artiodactly has metaposials only 1/2" wide? Thanks, Darrow
PrehistoricFlorida
I agree with you, the two larger bones do look like artiodactyl metapodials. However, identification beyond that is purely guesswork. The most likely candidate would be white tailed deer. I don't recognize the smaller bone, post some more pictures. www.PrehistoricFlorida.com
