Megalodon_hunter
First many thanks to Ashcraft & Bill and Roger for letting Elizabeth and I hunt their location on the Mississippi. Bill brought a great portable rock saw that made life amazing. Glen Dean Mississippian limestone & Tar Spring sandstone - Perry County, Mo Posted the images in a gallery but here are some pics. Found tons of Brachiopods, Crinoid stems, Archimedes screws and a few unidentified pieces. Had to leave a little earlier than we had planned as my ankle was bothering me. Still rehabbing it from the break. Was so happy just to get outside and hunting again. Edited September 24, 2012 by Megalodon_hunter "One of these day's I'm going to find a tooth over 3inches." Missourian
The unidentified piece could be lycopod bark. Context is critical.
Auspex
The unidentified piece could be lycopod bark. Indeed; there are strong similarities. ashcraft
Yes that is a lycopod. The piece probably isn't out of the Glen Dean, but rather out of the Tar Spring sandstone, which is right above it.
