zachj
hey all zach here i went to belgrade quarry this afternoon and like last time it was an oven in there. collecting started off good with some nice sandtigers and such. They also seemed to have got rid of some piles. I started walking around and saw a bunch of foot prints and eventualy found a pile with none. I found a nice hemipristis. I then went to the back side of the quarry and found an aligator tooth! it was large and huge. I found in total 5 aligator teeth and they are amazing. I wondered around the quarry picking up a bunch of broken teeth. The heat eventualy started to take its toll and i felt like i was gonna die. I lastly did some collecting in some overgrown piles and i think i found a mayumbayis tiger shark tooth. After the quarry we went to a jacksonville site because it was only about 10 minutes away. There i scored a bunch of tiny teeth, the best being 2 sand tigers and a amazing hemipristis curvatus. All in all i think i had a killer day. one day i will find a tooth over 3 inches in good conditon haha.

sixgill pete
Zach, your tiger tooth is a Galeocerdo casei. A nice rare find. They are very very similar too the mayumbensis, but are only found in a small area in the Oligocene Belgrade formation. Congrats on finding such a nice one. I have several of them and only one is as nice as the one you found. Most are very worn. zachj
well we were going to the beach so i asked all my teachers for my work on thursday so i wouldent have to make up any work on monnday, and i found a casei! but there is thousands of micro cracks going through the tooth and its making me extremely scared. I wish i could have stayed at belgrade longer i found a really nice pile but the heat was killing me! one day i will find a tooth over 3 inches in good conditon haha.
