KansasFossilHunter
Hey everybody! Just thought I's share some pics from yesterdays fossil hunt at Castle Rock and another location. We found an Icthyodectid tail, a protosphyraena fin and the highlight of our trip- a very rare Scapanorhynchus shark tooth! -Kris

Ramo
Are you certain on the Proto ID? I can't see the sawtoothed edge. Might be another big fish. KansasFossilHunter
Are you certain on the Proto ID? I can't see the sawtoothed edge. Might be another big fish. Ramo If you look in the lower right side of the picture you can see it has weak serrations like a Protosphyraena tenuis. Not all protosphyraena have saw toothed edges-Protosphyraena nitida for example have fine lines perpendicular to the leading edge. Thanks -Kris
Missourian
Nice pics and finds. The first photo reminds me of a giant shoe. Context is critical.

cowsharks
Really nice pictures of the landscape where you collect. So vastly different than my usual hunting locations with cliffs (se pic), and waves of water splashing all around. Congrats on the shark tooth - sounds like a rare/unusual find for that area. vr, Daryl.
