My 3 Days In The Low Country

Day 1: When we arrived in Summerville, We went straight to the ditch i found on Google earth. This ditch looked the best of all the ditches i saw. When we first got into the ditch it was really leavey and muddy and I could not See anything. Eventually The ditch cleared up and i saw some gravel beds. My finds were scarce at first but my first big surprise was a meg sticking out of the formation. I had to use a stick to get it out and it was broken :(. Shortly after that i made my way down and came across My best find to date, an Angustidens. It was hiding in THe sand and i barely saw it and yelled for my mom to come see the find. After a while my mom got tired and went back to the car. Shortly after that I came across my second Angustidens. It not as big but it is still a really nice one. After that tooth the finds slowly started to get worse and i called it a day. After fossil hunting i had to see the "Historical Charleston".

Day 2: I woke up with excitement in our Hotel knowing i was Meeting fellow forum member Len (Mudduck) and was going fossil hunting with him in one of his sites. We started siftinig in one spot but it was not being productive. After that we went to his other site, Where he found his beautiful meg tooth you guys saw. We started walking and it wasnt productive until after about 40 minutes or so. Len told me to come over and see his angy. It was pretty nice for the most part, just missing the cusps. After the walk we still had the walk back to find even more teeth! On the walk back i scored another beauty, a blue Angustidens. And shortly after that Len found another. When we were done we said our good byes and mom and sis picked me up from their trip to Magnolia Plantation. Lens a great guy and gave me his finds from his site that day.

Day 3: After spending the morning in Charleston we went to Summerville again and hit the same ditch. It wasnt as productive but turned up a partial squalodon and 2 threshers.

ENJOY THE PICS!

Watch it out in Summerville, HUGE fine if you are caught in the canals or ditches with anything they consider a "digging" tool and they will consider a cup a digging tool. Now the creeks that are hidden.........you just have to worry about houses backed up to them. I used to hit this awesome ditch behind a church there in Summerville until ppl started digging out the sides and now there is a guy that watches it like a hawk.

Great finds though and too bad your squalodon tooth is partial, that would be cool to find a complete one. Matter of fact, my only complete one came from Summerville.

I think your talking about the ditch i went to. The sides were dug into pretty well. I didnt see any teeth sticking out of the sides.

Great job Zach! You did some excellent research it really paid off for you. Those are some nice looking SC teeth you found. When you're a few years older and able to drive, there won't be any sharks teeth left for the rest of us. :P

Yeah man. It was my first trip to GMR and ever since I have wanted to find another just like it. Btw, wasn't there a recent post about "The best you have from GMR"? I can't seem to find that post anywhere....
