DeloiVarden
Water sure is getting cold. But it is amazing how uncomfortable we fossil hunters will get to net some teeth. Anyways, hit an old trusted spot which usually doesn't disappoint. I wish I had brought the gopro camera, because the vis was good enough for some decent video and there was an abundance of river creatures in addition to the teeth. My first dive was okay, but it was mostly beat up teeth. I dropped down the anchor line and hit the bottom. I looked up and there was a huge angustidens. I have found several around 4 1/2 inches, but could tell off the bat this was likely bigger. I have always wondered if there are 5"+ angys out there. It is a little beat up around the edges as the bigger teeth so often are and just short of 5", but at 4.987", I am not complaining. Best part is that where the edge is intact, there are serrations and both side cusps are present. The final tank was smaller finds, but the two threshers, huge desori, and decent angustiden made for a good end for the day. I was freezing, but had a good time. Sorry for the poor picture quality, the garage lighting is not that great and the teeth are not dry yet. May upload better shots for the gallery later. I didn't take shots of all of the broken stuff. Thanks for looking and happy hunting! Edited January 2, 2013 by DeloiVarden
Mudduck
GORGEOUS! What a day! I have heard of hunters bringing in bucket fulls but I would trade a bucket full for teeth like that any day! Congrats! I had found a 4" Angustidens a couple of months ago. I know they are out there. That just makes me ! And where was I today...oh, watching South Carolina play. Should have been looking for teeth! Way to go! cowsharks
Wow, can you imagine what that huge Angy shark jaw would have looked like with all those 5" teeth with cusps? Although huge Megs are great, I love the teeth with cusps - they have more character. Congrats on all those finds - esp the the threshers too. Daryl. hokiehunter
holy moly! Awesome find. Based on that tooth alone you no longer have to wonder if there is a 5 inch Angy out there. The shark that dropped that had them for sure.

DeloiVarden
Here is a picture of the teeth mostly dry, some colors may change as they dry completely. The angustidens is far from pefect, but knowing the frequency of gem angustidens is about 1 in every 30, going to take me about 300 years to find a gem 5". THobern
That's an impressive tooth. I'd love to have seen it whole, just for the shape of the cusps.
