Scylla
OK here's a great example of bad science: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/18/extraterresterial-life-exists-chandra-wickramasinghe_n_2500008.html#slide=more275773 This thing fell to earth late December and already they have figured it all out? AgrilusHunter
This reminds me of when folks claimed to have applified intact insect DNA from amber. Insect DNA is everywhere, it's on your skin right now, contamination is inevitable. With diatoms it's even more inevitable. Wait ... more inevitable, that doesn't ... oh well. Malcolmt
Interesting article, thanks for posting. My suspicion is that it is a contaminated sample if it even is a meteorite. Needs to be reviewed by a diatom expert to see if the unknown diatom like structures can be matched against an earth species from Sri Lanka
Oxytropidoceras
Another article is "Scientist 'finds extra-terrestrial fossils in meteor fragment'," Pakistan Daily Times, http://www.dailytime...25-1-2013_pg9_7 The Bad Astronomy blog has come comments about this claim in: No, Diatoms Have Not Been Found in a Meteorite by Phil Plait, January 15, 2013, http://www.slate.com..._meteorite.html Best wishes, Paul H. stonesnbones
Good article....I would go with the school of thought that this is a contaminated sample....
PRK
Do you believe this fossil is from space? It is my space alien fossil. I've had him for 6-7years now? Edited January 27, 2013 by PRK
Malcolmt
Definately a fossilized minature grey... probably became a dwarf species on some remote island.... I'd be heading to the Weekly World News with that one......
PRK
I'm assuming you meant an extra terrestrial island. Cause it clearly is not from earth!
