Bev
Thanks for the guess! I've seen a lot of smashed brachs but this is dfferent. The ring is perfectly smooth, no indication of a shell, and it appears to be filled with a sparkly sandstone, well sand sparkles The more I learn, I realize the less I know. tracefossilnut
It appears to be a concretion around a fossil, but I have no idea what the fossil may be.
Bev
Thank you Tracefossilnut! That makes perfect sense to me! Scary, isn't it! LOL So, maybe the actual fossil is a blastoid or cystoid or brach or bivalve, or???? Bev The more I learn, I realize the less I know. JimB88
could also be the lip of the "bell" of a Bellerophont type gastropod. Wouldn't be a blastoid..they weren't around till the Silurian.
Bev
Soooo, could my largest of the "Three Bumps" actually be a Bellerophont? I saw a pic that looked, to me, to be similar...
